Early Life
Shalmali was born on 2 January 1990. She is 34 Years Old. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn. She started her career when she was 16 years old. And has had music lessons since she was eight years old from her mother who is an Indian classical singer and theatre personality. She later continued her music studies with Shubhada Paradkar, and she was recently accepted by the Los Angeles College of Music for their April semester but decided not to attend owing to her recording obligations.
Career
In 2012, Shalmali made her Bollywood playback singing debut with the Amit Trivedi-composed song Pareshaan from the movie Ishaqzaade. The song topped the Indian charts and was a critical and commercial success. Among the many accolades Pareshaan Shalmali got was the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
2012 saw her achieve two more hits: Cocktail’s Daaru Desi and Aiyyaa’s Aga Bai. Lat Lag Gayee, from the movie Race 2, became Shalmali’s first commercially successful song when it was released in 2013. For multiple weeks, the song topped the charts and gained immense popularity in dance clubs. With the release of the song Balam Pichkari from the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, she maintained her critical and financial success. Kholgade was nominated multiple times for the song.
Along with these critically acclaimed songs, she sang the title song for Shuddh Desi Romance, Besharmi Ki Height and Shanivar Raati for Main Tera Hero, D Se Dance for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, and Shayarana for Daawat-E-Ishq. Her performance in the Sultan (2016) sports drama’s song Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai earned her a lot of applause.
