Early Life
Shatrughan Sinha was born in Patna, Bihar, on 15th July 1946. His father, Bhubaneswari Prasad Sinha, and mother, Shyama Devi Sinha, had four kids – Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan Sinha. Shatrughan is the youngest in the family. His father was a doctor who founded the Government College of Health and Physics in Patna.
Shatrughan completed his Bachelor of Science from Science College, Patna. Even though his father hoped he’d become a doctor, Shatrughan had his heart set on acting. So, after graduation, he pursued an acting diploma from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. Following that, he headed to Mumbai to kickstart his career in the film industry.
Career
Shatrughan Sinha achieved great success in his acting career. Initially, when he arrived in Mumbai, he faced challenges and had to work hard to secure roles in films. Despite being a talented actor, he struggled to find opportunities and had to go through numerous auditions. Devanand offered him a role in his upcoming film, “Prem Pujari.” This marked the beginning of Shatrughan Sinha’s journey in Bollywood. In his debut film, he portrayed a Pakistani military officer and shared the screen with the superstar Devanand.
Subsequently, he played the role of a police inspector in the film “Sajan,” directed by Mohan Sehgal. “Sajan” was released before “Prem Pujari,” making it Shatrughan Sinha’s first released film.
In the early stages of his career, Shatrughan Sinha played villainous roles in films like “Rampur Ka Lakshman,” “Blackmail,” “Bhai Ho Toh Aisa,” and “Pyar Hi Pyar.” Additionally, he took on supporting roles in movies like “Khilona,” “Dost,” “Gambler,” and “Aa Gale Lag Jaa.” His versatile acting, both as a villain and a supporting actor, won the hearts of millions.
