Bipasha Basu was born on the 7th of January 1979 in New Delhi, India. Later, her family relocated to Kolkata. She has two sisters – an elder sister named Bidisha and a younger sister named Bijoyeta. During her childhood, Bipasha was quite a tomboy, and her friends lovingly called her ‘Lady Gonda‘. When she was in school, her dream was to become a medical professional, but fate had different plans for her. At the young age of 16, she got her first modeling opportunity. Then, at 17, she achieved significant success by winning both the Ford Supermodel of the World and the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest.

Career

Bipasha is from a non-filmy background. Her journey in the world of modeling kick-started in 1996 when she clinched victory in two competitions: the Ford Models Supermodel of the World and the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest. Her breakthrough in acting came in 2001 when she took on a negative role in “Ajnabee” alongside Akshay Kumar, earning significant recognition.

Following that, her film “Raaz” performed admirably at the box office and garnered further acclaim. While Bipasha faced setbacks with a couple of subsequent movies, she made a strong comeback. “Jism” was released in 2003, showcasing a whole new avatar of Bipasha Basu. Subsequent films like “Corporate,” “No Entry,” “Omkara,” “Phir Hera Pheri,” and “Dhoom 2” proved to be commercial hits. Controversy
