Bipasha Basu was born on the 7th of January 1979 in New Delhi, India. Later, her family relocated to Kolkata. She has two sisters – an elder sister named Bidisha and a younger sister named Bijoyeta. During her childhood, Bipasha was quite a tomboy, and her friends lovingly called her ‘Lady Gonda‘. When she was in school, her dream was to become a medical professional, but fate had different plans for her. At the young age of 16, she got her first modeling opportunity. Then, at 17, she achieved significant success by winning both the Ford Supermodel of the World and the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest.
