Early Life
Boman Irani was born on December 2, 1959, in Mumbai. He worked as a waiter and room service staff at the Taj Mahal Palace after graduating from Mithibai College. Due to his mother’s deteriorating health, he was forced to leave that work and return to his mother’s bakery in Byculla, Mumbai.
Between 1987 and 1989, Irani also dabbled in photography. Irani had a penchant for cinema since college and studied professional acting under Hansraj Sindhia from 1981 to 1983. Soon after, he became interested in British theatre and began to learn other accents.
Irani was mentored by famous theatrical actor Alyque Padamsee, best known for portraying Mohammad Ali Jinnah in the epic biographical film Gandhi (1982). He was introduced to Padamsee by Shiamak Davar. Irani also handled the bakery and namkeen store that belonged to his mother, who took over from Irani’s father after his death, where he used to prepare and sell potato chips and tea till he was 32 years old. This business, located on Mumbai’s Grant Road between Novelty Cinema and Apsara Cinema, is also where Irani met his mother-in-law for the first time.
Career
In his career, Boman Irani has appeared in more than 100 movies. Boman Irani has received numerous honors for his contributions to the world of cinema. His most well-known performance was as the dean of Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe, sometimes known as Virus, in the excellent comedy film 3 Idiots. Additionally, he co-hosted the IIFA Awards with actor Riteish Deshmukh in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
On January 24, 2019, Amitabh Bachchan presented the logo for his production company, Irani Movietone. Boman Irani is currently a member of the International Movement to Unite Nations’ Board of Advisors (I.I.M.U.N.). Boman Irani has served as a brand ambassador for Puri Oil (MillsP )’s Mark Oil, Exotica, RO Kent, Going NGO, Saffola, AmbiPur Nature Valley, and CARS24.

When Adajania told him he didn’t need him, Irani offered to work at his office for free for 6 months in exchange for a ring-side badge to cover the event. He persisted in trying to persuade Adajania and covered a state boxing event differently than other photographers. Adajania was delighted with Irani’s images and dedication and hired him as the official photographer.
In January 2019, he established his production company, Irani Movietone. Irani will make his directorial debut in 2022. In the same year, Irani starred in Masoom as Dr. Balraj Kapoor.
