Kareena Kapoor was Born in Mumbai on September 21, 1980, to actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, the actress took her name from the book Anna Karenina, which Babita was reading while pregnant with Kareena. Kareena was raised in a Punjabi and Sindhi background and practiced Hinduism until she was exposed to Christianity by her mother.
Kareena’s elder sister, Karisma Kapoor, is an actress who has appeared in films such as Dil To Pagal Hai, Judwaa, and Biwi No. 1. Kareena Kapoor attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu before moving on to Welham Girls Boarding School in Dehradun.
