When he was just twelve years old, his father passed away, and his mother Ira Nagrath got him to learn music from Ustad Faiyaz Ahmed Khan Saheb. Rajesh Roshan lives a private life with his wife Kanchan and two kids, Eshaan and Pashmina. He is known for being down-to-earth and having a real love for music.
Rajesh Roshan had a successful partnership with Basu Chatterjee, Lata Mangeshkar, and Kishore Kumar. He is the first music director who got superstar Amitabh Bachchan to sing.
Rajesh Roshan usually makes music for the films his brother either produces or directs. Like many Bollywood music directors, Rajesh Roshan has faced accusations of copying music. On more than two occasions, he used Vangelis’s tunes for his movies’ soundtracks without giving credit to him.

Rajesh is known in the industry for being quiet and not seeking attention. Laxmikant called him The Last Of The Originals, and Kavita Krishnamurthi thinks he’s the most gentlemanly of all the composers. In his music room in Juhu, Mumbai (where his father also created unforgettable music), Rajesh relaxes and listens to music on his father’s harmonium, which he still uses.
