Early Life
Aditi Rao was born on 28th October 1986 in Hyderabad, which is now in Telangana. Her parents are Ehsaan Hydari and Vidya Rao. Unfortunately, Aditi’s father, Ehsaan Hydari, passed away in 2013 because of lung cancer. He was the son of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, who was the last British-appointed and the first Indian governor of Assam. Aditi’s mother, Vidya Rao, is a famous Hindustani classical singer and belongs to the family of the Raja of Wanaparthy.
When Aditi was only two years old, her parents separated, and she moved to Delhi with her mother, who raised her as a single parent.
For her schooling, Aditi went to Rishi Valley School in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, and later graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women at Delhi University. Aditi developed an interest in Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form, at the age of six, starting her training under the guidance of the renowned dancer Leela Samson.
Career
Aditi Rao Hydari started as a dancer with a group led by Leela Samson called ‘Spanda.’ Her first Tamil movie, ‘Sringaram,’ came in 2007. She got the role because she looked a lot like dancer Shobana Chandrakumar Pillai.
In 2011, she acted in ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi‘ by Sudhir Mishra and got noticed for her acting, especially in some intimate scenes with Arunoday Singh.
The same year, she had a smaller part in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar.’ Then in 2012, she took the main role in ‘London, Paris, New York‘ directed by Anu Menon. She acted opposite Ali Zafar, a Pakistani singer and actor. She even showed off her singing skills in the Hindi version of the song “We Are Family” for the animated film “Ice Age 4: The Drift of the Continent.”
In 2013, she starred in ‘Murder 3,’ a mystery film by Vishesh Bhatt, acting alongside Randeep Hooda and receiving praise for her performance. She also appeared in ‘Boss,’ directed by Anthony D’souza, sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar and Shiv Pandit.
