Early Life
Tulsi Kumar came into the world in Mumbai, India, on the 20th of July 1985. She went to Jamnabai Narsee School and Mithibai College in Mumbai. While in college, she learned classical music from Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Pandit Vinod Chandra Pandit. Later, she started taking part in local stage shows and competitions, where music director Pritam Chakraborty noticed her.
Tulsi Kumar, originally Tulsi Kumar Dua, comes from a Punjabi Hindu family. Her parents are businessman Gulshan Kumar, the founder of T-Series, and Sudesh Kumari. Divya Khosla Kumar is her sister-in-law. In 2015, Tulsi got married to Hitesh Ralhan in Nepal. They have a son who was born in 2017.
Career
In 2009, Tulsi Kumar unveiled her debut album, titled “Love Ho Jaaye,” accompanied by a music video for its titular track. During this period, she lent her voice to songs such as “Mujhe Teri” from the movie Paathshaala, collaborated with Neeraj Shridhar on “Love Mera Hit” from the film Billu, and contributed to “Tum Jo Aaye” from Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.
In 2015, she sang “Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog,” marking her sister Khushali’s screen debut. It’s a revamped version of a song from the movie Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin.
In 2016, Tulsi sang several hits like “Soch Na Sake,” “Sanam Re,” “Nachange Sari Raat,” “Ishq Di Latt,” “Salamat,” “Dekh Lena,” “Wajah Tum Ho,” “Dil Ke Pass,” and “Dil Mein Chupa Lunga.” She also collaborated with Guru Randhawa on “Enni Soni” in 2019.
